Welcome to the Believe Begin Become South Africa
Believe Begin Become is an incentive driven global entrepreneurship development programme that identifies promising entrepreneurs and assists them in creating scalable and sustainable businesses. The programme is designed and executed by TechnoServe, with the believe that enterprise development in the SME sector is best achieved through empowering entrepreneurs in these sectors with the right skills, financial services and products, network and market linkages.
Believe Begin Become South Africa is funded by Standard Bank who is also a partner to the programme. Other supporting partners include Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), University of Johannesburg, Lenovo, National Business Initiative (NBI), Young & Rubican, Pick n Pay, Branson School of Entrepreneurship and a network of South African business professionals.
The South African programme specifically targets entrepreneurs from rural and non metro areas to help grow their businesses and create jobs in their communities. Eighty entrepreneurs who qualify into the programme are given intensive and practical training in business fundamentals to develop their business plan. The training is supplemented by mentors who provide one on one mentoring to provide additional support to the entrepreneurs
The programme rewards entrepreneurs who present the best business ideas and plans. The top twenty entrepreneurs are given R35 000 in business development services (BDS) - the top ten of whom are given an additional R75 000 in seed capital to invest in their businesses. TechnoServe, through the Believe Begin Become Aftercare and Alumni Network programmes provides ongoing support to the entrepreneurs, to implement their business plans. The support includes;

Setting up new businesses and assessing the existing business needs

Brokering access to finance for the businesses,

Providing business support through market linkages,

Facilitating Business to Business linkages.

Administering the disbursement of Seed Capital and BDS.
