Dear Applicant,
We would like to introduce you to Believe Begin Become, Tanzania's national business plan competition and entrepreneurship development programme. This new initiative aims to turn great ideas into thriving, sustainable businesses. The programme is funded by Google.org and designed, managed and executed by TechnoServe, and both organizations are proud to offer the future entrepreneurs of Tanzania the opportunity to launch and build businesses. Believe Begin Become is also supported by a network of local Tanzanian businesses, professionals, and public entities.
TechnoServe's Business Plan Competition aims to identify, mentor, and improve the environment for entrepreneurs who will grow new businesses and create jobs, revenue and wealth. Entrepreneurs with robust business ideas will have the opportunity to turn their ideas into viable business plans through training and mentoring. Winners will be awarded seed capital for business start-ups or expansions, as well as a range of ongoing services to ensure that they have the support needed for success. These services will be focused on building capacity and establishing contacts and linkages. Believe Begin Become's comprehensive approach and the quality of the programme's partners help make it a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs.
The attached guide details the rules and regulations for applying and participating in the competition, and provides additional information that may be helpful as entrepreneurs prepare their applications.
Important facts
1. The Believe Begin Become application period officially opens at 8:00a.m. on June 12th, 2007. The application period closes at 5:00p.m. on July 20th, 2007.
2. Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria detailed in this guide can apply. Applicants will be asked to choose which of the three broad industry categories best describes their business concept: 1) agribusiness and processing, 2) manufacturing 3) services, or 4) Information Communication and Technology.
3. A complete application must include all of the following:
- Hard copy of signed participation agreement
- Proof of payment of 10,000 Tsh/- application fee
No incomplete applications will be evaluated
- All applications will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality. All judges, consultants and organizers have signed confidentiality agreements that prohibit them from using or divulging any information related to the applicants or their ideas. This confidentiality agreement will be in effect even after the competition has ended. Only information that has the express authorization from the applicant will be used in any manner beyond evaluation purposes. Read more about confidentiality within this document.
